I came across this book through
my friend Christian Urhig who you may be aware has assisted
me in the past with book lists and supplies. Christian was
so touched by this true story he had the book translated
into English and published through his 'Smart Publishing'
company here in Australia. Not only that, he felt so
strongly about wanting to bring the benefits of Dolphin
therapy to Australia he was a key figure in setting up
Dolphin Aid Australia (http://www.dolphinaid-oz.org)
to raise funds so this therapy could be available to
families with disabled children here in Australia rather
than having to travel to the USA.
Here is a précis of what this
amazing story is all about.
After the tragic near drowning and subsequent brain
damage of her son Timmy, Kirsten (Kiki) Kuhnert transformed
these dramatic experiences into incredible benefits.
Her journey, an odyssey with seemingly no way out, led
them to Florida. Timmy had been in 'his own world' for over
15 months when the first miracle happened as he swam with
the dolphins. With their help he reached out into our world,
and laughed loudly ... for the first time since the
accident.
He recovered because Kiki Kuhnert overcame taboos, went
beyond limits, refused to accept 'no' and, despite all
opposition and all obstacles did what seemed to be
impossible – revitalised her son, founded a charity
organisation 'dolphin aid' and raised several millions of
dollars for that organisation.
Since then, hundreds of other children with similar
health challenges and their families have also experienced
'little miracles'. By taking action Kiki has given so much
to so many.
She is a beacon – a bright light clearly showing the
direction towards courage, hope, love, strength, success and
persistence. Her achievements give us new hope and a better
perspective about ourselves, about our lives and what can be
done through love and dedication. This book tells the
uplifting story of what a mother did for her son, starting
with the day of the accident. It is moving and
heart-warming.
A truly inspirational read,
this book is available for $24.95 (Australian Dollars)
